Cochauco is located in a small village called Pintag, just one hour outside of Quito by car. It takes even less time to arrive there from Mariscal Sucre International airport, making Cochauco very accessible to both locals and tourists alike.

About Cochauco

Hacienda Cochauco is the perfect setting for a family get-a-way, a farm wedding or even for a yoga/wellness retreat.  It is secluded, secure and upscale. There are three rentable ‘casitas’ that can accommodate many guests at one time.  Rooms are equipped with full, twin and even bunk beds.  In addition, there is an outdoor kitchen and living area as well as an amazing greenhouse with a wading pool.

The “Sarita” Greenhouse

This 400+ acre farm is home to the Suarez Family. When they visit Ecuador they love to unite at Cochauco with their extended family.  The outdoor kitchen and fire place make for an ideal setting for group gatherings.

A Working Farm

Cochauco is a working dairy farm.  There is a Cheese Factory and milking stables on premise.   A lovely local family lives on the farm and attends to the daily details of farm life. This family also manages the property when it is rented out to guests.

One of the best Cochauco experiences is milking the cows.  There are two opportunities a day to partake in this activity. One is at 4:30am and 4:30pm.  The local farmers can help you learn to do it.  It is a lot of fun and not as easy as they make it look!

Got Milk?

The sheer serenity of Cochauco is mesmerizing. One of my favorite parts of the whole experience is sitting by the fire. They have both an indoor and an outdoor fireplace on the property.  I could sit there for hours.  It is so relaxing.

I also love the BBQ pit in the outdoor kitchen. One night while I was there I enjoyed a typical South American ‘asado” or BBQ with the extended Suarez family.

There is so much to do here at Hacienda Cochauco – hiking, horse back riding, eating and drinking…or just simply relaxing.  The hammocks are ideal for an afternoon nap.
