The Academie Fracncaise du Chocolat and the Academie Culinaire Francais celebrated Ecuadorian Cacao in Quito. The Ecuador Ministry of Tourism hosted the event in their beautiful offices.

They have amazing views of the historic city and a wrap around outdoor terrace.

Many important celebrated French Chefs attended the event. The honored guest wasFrench Pastry Chef Yves Thuries. Chef Thuries is a twice Meilleur Ouvrier de France and a Chocolate Master.

After the opening remarks, guests feasted on a special buffet prepared by Nazai Catering. Nazai Catering is based in Quito, Ecuador.  They specialize in upscale events and weddings throughout the country.

I enjoyed seeing Chefs Jorge Naveda Guerra and Eliana Hadweh Zaidan again.  They are the winning team behind Nazai Catering.  They skillfully combine Ecuadorian food in new ways and they make wonderful creations.  Their presentation is excellent.

My biggest surprise that evening was to try native Ecuadorian tuna topped with a special chocolate sauce.  The sauce was made of pure cacao. For sure I found it to be an unlikely combination.  It tasted absolutely delicious.

Thank you to the Ecuador Ministry of Tourism for your lovely hospitality. I enjoyed meeting Ab. Carlos J. Larrea Cespo, Vice Minister of Tourism.  Also always great to see Andre Obiol, Comisera Cadena Hotelera again.
